While in New York this past weekend, I was referred to a breakfast place by the name of Egg. Yes, just the one word. Its funny how some of the most successful places in New York or at least popular places have titles consisting of just one word, like Earwax or Whisk. Now usually I am not keen on waiting in long lines or having to be on a list for over half an hour. However, I made an exception and signed up and I couldn't be more happy that I did. Once you sit down they bring you a french press with bold coffee that rivals that of the best. This was followed by a bowl of donut balls. The consistency was more like that of beignets but they were excellent and not to sweet, which is hard to find in a donut. The menu was made up of diverse options unlike anything I have seen in a breakfast restaurant. I ordered the country ham biscuit and it was nothing short of perfection. Fresh homemade biscuits and in between, an over medium egg, Col. Bill Newsom's Hams from Princeton, homemade fig jam, and a side of cheese grits. It was brought out quick and service was friendly and helpful. The lunch menu sounded equally incredible and hopefully one day I will get to eat there again. The best breakfast I have ever had.

It Shall Continue Soon...
This is more of an update just to state that my pursuit of the best burger is on hold over the next few weeks but that soon I will be posting a review on the famed Maple and Motor. This is said to have the best burger, and was even compared to Wingfields's and that is dangerous words. I hope to have it up soon.

Whiskey Cake
Located on Parker and the Dallas North Tollway, there is a very intriguing restaurant by the name Whiskey Cake. Though this name is derived from their claim to fame dessert, whiskey cake, this menu is made up of a diverse entree selection and caters to the desires most would have on going out to eat a delicious, reasonably priced meal. Apart from their unique appetizers such as fried green tomatoes, their is quite a large salad selection. The basic burger was excellent and their is a brunch menu that is equally superb. My favorite meal there was bourbon banana pancakes with homemade whipped cream.
All together it was a great meal for a decent price and definitely worth another visit.

Wingfields
This burger joints claim to fame is having the best burger in Texas. This could not be more true. Apart from the high price and some what odd location, no other burger could get away with it. Massive beef patties cooked to perfection along with fresh cheese and buns and incredible thick cut bacon make this a life changing burger.
This restaurant is worth the drive.

Ravelin Bakery
Ravelin is one of the most remarkable bakery's I've ever been to. It's tucked away in downtown Denton on South Elm Street. Now it is not a restaurant with tables inside but this food is worth standing and eating or just eating in your car.
Their menu ranges from exotic muffin flavor combinations, cookies, fresh loaves of bread, cakes, tarts, croissants, numerous pastries and thats just a start. They make the most perfectly cooked coconut macaroon which is one of their big hits too.
The owners are a local family Eric and Pamela Helland. They have spent their time developing a bulletproof menu of flawless treats and snacks and make only the best possible quality. Consistency is never lacking at this German style bakery and I think their future only gets brighter.
This place is a "Must Visit" when in the Denton area.

Dels Charcoal Burgers
Right off Belt Line on McKinney Street on the East side of 75 in Richardson is a small burger house owned and operated by two very nice guys, William Coleman and Hoss Taher. Along with a diverse menu of burgers and other entrees, they sell some of the most amazing homemade root beer and strawberry cream soda served in iced mugs.
Burger meat was cooked perfectly and served with a bbq sauce that paired perfectly. The cheese on the burger was just regular shredded cheddar, nothing to ride home about, but everything else on the burger was excellent.
Another plus, as always, was to see a dispenser of Tony Chachere's cajun seasoning.
It's definitely worth checking out.

Scene of North Texas
This blog specifically reviews some of the new and happening places in the college town of Denton, Tx. Constantly new restaurants, hip coffee bars, cool bar bars, and some of the best breakfast food you have ever eaten at are popping up. As I discover some of the best or most mentionable places I will write reviews and some of the good deals they have. My first review will be on Loco Cafe.
This small, creative new age breakfast joint is located on N Locust street in Denton. They have a sugar-carmelized grapefruit that is truly amazing. As you look over the rest of the menu there is a variety of egg combinations as well as their specials and one of the most delicious breakfast tacos you will have ever eaten for the small price of $2.
But the hype on this place doesn't end there. The coffee bar with brewed coffee, espressos, fresh teas, and specialty coffees is Incredible. This especially includes their almond brewed coffee in which the beans are roasted and brewed with roasted almonds.
This restaurant is amazing and I encourage all reading to try this place.
